5 Quick Tips To Prepare Your Home For Holiday Entertaining

Impress your guests this holiday season with these simple home enhancing tips!

1. A Festive and Functional Entryway

Keep it simple when decorating the entryway for the holidays. Be sure to leave plenty of room to receive your guests when entertaining. It is always a good idea to prepare areas in the entryway for wet boots and shoes. You may also want to decorate with seasonal rugs to catch any extra moisture and leaves. A functional bench in the entryway is a thoughtful touch for your guests who may need to sit to take off their boots or shoes. A portable coat rack is also something to consider if there is not enough room in your existing closet for all of your guests coats.

2. Don't Forget About Your Bathrooms!

Small pops of color can have a big impact when decorating a bathroom for the holidays. To make the bathroom a cozy and comfortable space, consider soft accent lighting from scented candles and soft hand towels in various seasonal colors. Be sure to check the bathroom throughout the evening to make sure it is stocked with plenty of tissues, toilet paper, and any other necessities.

3. Add Softness and Scent With Seasonal Candles

Candles help to soften the lighting in any room. They will create a warm, inviting, and comforting glow in your home to help relax your guests.

When choosing scented candles, try not to mix too many different scents throughout the home.

If you are not comfortable using real candles, consider using LED candles in frosted votives to create a warm glow, or a wax warmer to fill your home with seasonal scents for the holidays.

4. Comfort is Key When Hosting For the Holidays

Holidays can be a stressful time and a restful retreat is always appreciated. Create ample seating with plenty of pillows and throw blankets to keep your guests comfortable and warm.

You may want to consider using additional accent furniture pieces in the home that can provide additional seating if needed for unexpected guests. For example, using a large ottoman that can double as a coffee table or additional seating.

5. Prepare a Guest Room

It is a good idea to have a guest room ready for your guests who may need to stay overnight due to bad weather conditions, or too much celebrating! You may also want to prepare a thoughtful basket of toiletries and provide clean towels for your overnight guests so they can freshen up right away in the morning.
